William M. (John) Baldwin, 93, of Decatur, IL passed away at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
 
A service celebrating William’s life will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.  Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting family with the arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.
 
William was born on September 9, 1917 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Harlen and Sarah (Cater) Baldwin.  William proudly served in the U.S. Army.  He worked at Meadow Gold Dairy, Anchor Step Company and Classic Printing.  He was a member of Antioch Christian Church. 
 
William married Mary J Ward on May 24, 1941.  They almost made 70 years together! 
 
His hobbies included gardening, carpentry, bird watching and farming.  He enjoyed working with wood.  He was always there to lend a helping hand and to give advice.
 
Surviving is his wife Mary of 69 years; son: Darrel Baldwin (Judy) of Decatur and daughter: Melody Naron (Rodney) of Dalton City, IL.;  grandkids: Suzie Baldwin, Candy (Danny) Horath, Chris Naron, John (Nicky) Baldwin; great grandkids: Jeremy (Amanda) Miller, Jennifer (T.J.) Evans, Libby Ferguson, Scott Baldwin, Bailey Baldwin, Corey and Andrew Mize;  great great grandkids: Graham and Addison Miller, Ethan Evans, Daniel Young; sister: Gladys Long; sisters-in-law: Louise Ward and Mildred; and many nieces and nephews
 
William was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brothers: Lennel and Howard; grandkids: Bryan Naron and Darrel Baldwin, Jr.; daughter-in-law: Phyllis Baldwin
 
The family would like to thank Dr. McCormack and staff, as well as the staff and CNA’s that took care of him at Imboden Creek Living Center during his short stay.  The compassion and love they showed him was beyond words.
